Recently I have been both developing courses and leading afterschool lessons for Dedimus Potestatem. They're an organization focused on student empowerment in all aspects of young adulthood and I am proud to continue my work with them.
In 2021 I graduated magna cum laude from The City College of New York's Childhood Studies program, with an academic focus on early childhood education and developmental psychology. I am currently studying Mental Health Counseling at the Fordham University's Graduate School of Education, with an eye toward using counseling and therapy approaches to help students struggling with anxiety and diffidence.
I work for the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities as a self-direction worker through the Resource Center for Independent Living. This involves habilitation work, helping people with developmental disabilities achieve independence and learn strategies and skills with which to navigate a society that is not often built to accommodate their abilities.
As often as I can I donate my time to NEXTDistro, and opioid overdose harm reduction non-profit. Prevention over intervention is an issue that is near and dear to me, and harm reduction as a philosophy informs much of my life.
I developed an interest in fabrication when studying industrial design at Carnegie Mellon University. While there are few opportunities for glassblowing or metalwork in my life, I am lucky to have a sister-in-law who runs a ceramic studio and am (slowly) learning to work with clay. This summer I also fostered rabbits.
